    Val-Yor (Teen Titans)
"I don't need any help from a stupid troq!"
    Gender: Male
    Type: Racist So-called "Superhero"

    Genocidal Brainwasher

    Age: Adult
    Species: Vernathian
    Portrayed by: Stephen Root
    Status: Alive
    Media of origin: Teen Titans
    First appearance: Troq
    Last appearance: Troq

Val-Yor is a one-time character in the original Teen Titans. He appears in the episode "Troq", where he recruits the Teen Titans to help him stop the Locrix. He's voiced by Stephen Root.

Why He's Intentionally an Utter Troq

    1. He can be considered a filler character since he mostly exists in Teen Titans just to give the viewer someone to root for that the franchise did not have.
    2. Despite being calm and nice to Robin, Raven, Cyborg, and Beast Boy, Val-Yor is extremely cruel and racist to Starfire, which is unacceptable for him to act like that to a fun, kind-hearted person like Starfire.
    3. Throughout his only episode, he constantly puts Starfire down and refuses to let her help on the mission, even if she asks for help.
      • He even sent her on a mission to remove mines, knowing very well that she could have died. Heck, he even looked disappointed and upset when she survived! What is worse is that this shows how much he wanted her dead is just xenophobic!
    4. His treatment of Starfire, especially calling her a 'troq', really upset her and made her feel useless and unwanted.
    5. When Val-Yor got trapped and became heavily wounded in a force field, he refused to let Starfire save him. He was about to be killed but his racism got in the way of getting some help.
      • Even when she did save him, his "thank you" felt half-hearted and not genuine.
    6. He never gave a reason for why he hates Starfire or any of the Tameraneans.
    7. After the other Titans rightfully defended Starfire and called Val-Yor out on his attitude towards her, he decided to consider them all "troqs" as well, proving he didn't learn anything.
    8. Since there was not much information about the Locrix and his war against them, it is implied that the Locrix are targets of his racism and brainwash the Titans to commit genocide on them. Though he isn't a generic doomsday villain and the Locrix were genocidal, but still.
    9. He gives Captain Atom himself a bad name.

    Redeeming Qualities

    1. His superhero design looks unique and seems solid.
    2. Stephen Root did a great job voicing him.
    3. He was a decent character only in the beginning, until the moment when he started to be mean to Starfire.
    4. I'll take the ugly one.
    5. Fortunately, he never appeared again after this episode.

    Trivia

    • Unlike Nuclear Man from "Superman IV: The Quest for Peace", Val-Yor is unique in that he's the only character in the Teen Titans series to be original and not be from the DC Universe before.
    • Val-Yor seems to be based on the DC Comic's Captain Atom, who has similar abilities (as does Superman) and pale silver-colored skin. Also, it should be noted there is a DC Comics superhero named "Valor".
    • Due to Val-Yor's poor reception by fans and critics alike, he is a one-time character only in Teen Titans. Val-Yor leaves planet Earth in his ship after both the Titans and he stops the Locrox and is never seen or mentioned again for the rest of the series.
      • As a matter of fact, Val-Yor is the only major character in Teen Titans to not make a reappearance after his debut in "Troq", he doesn't get so much as a mention, not even in the two-part episode "Calling All Titans" and "Titans Together" (the two episodes in which were every one of the characters from Teen Titans make an appearance) and/or "Teen Titans: Trouble in Tokyo" (the series finale movie of the original Teen Titans) does he make an appearance or even get a reference, thus hinting how widely hated Val-Yor was.
      • He is the first (and so far only) character in the original 2003 Teen Titans who has not made an appearance in Teen Titans Go!.
