Leo "Streetbeat" Craig (レオ・クレイグ, Reo Kureigu) is one of the two main protagonists of mh:crappygames:Balan Wonderworld, the other being Emma Cole. He plays a lead role in the novel, Balan Wonderworld: Maestro of Mystery, Theatre of Wonders, as well.
Why He Pooped His Pants While Breakdancing
- His drowsy and careless presence in the intro cutscene was the very reason he got himself in trouble, which makes him look like a completely hopeless nitwit.
- He is a complete embarrassment of a platforming character, as he is pathetic, cowardly, and whiny. Who even disobeys the controller/player when he runs away from certain enemies such as large, slow-moving turtles, making him look very feeble.
- At the beginning of the game, he walks at a tediously slow pace and slouches whenever he does so, and whenever he runs, he thrusts out his arms as if he were swimming, which makes him all the more awkward and embarrassing.
- He may also do something stupidly vexing throughout the levels, like cowering before approaching obstacles or running away from enemies encountered for the first time, while moving slowly making the monotony grow excessively.
- Unlike famous video game characters like Mario, Sonic, Mega Man, Kirby and many more, he takes fall damage (much like Bubsy), thus forcing the player to do a tedious process by gradually lowering themself down a cliff.
- His attacks, which are kicking and pelting enemies with rocks, which is just plain pathetic for an attack.
- His design in the cover looks like a total joke and his character as a whole is not someone who you want to root for as a hero, like James Rolfe has said in his review of the game: "Who wants to play as a weak, pathetic character like this? Wouldn't you rather be a tough guy? Isn't that the whole point of playing a game? To feel empowered, to be someone you're not?".
- His voice is annoying and it will get on your nerves, best examples of this are his wimpy moans/shivering, his grunts, and his bad "Tarzan" yell in the opening of the game. It even fits his initial, dorky personality perfectly.
Redeeming Qualities
- As the game progresses, he builds up much more courage and bravery to save Tikka from an ape and fight the pirates as well as risk his life in order to save an innocent islander, and is even able to return home. In a way, he represents the moral of facing your fears.
- His in-game design isn't all that bad.
