Thomas the Tank Engine is a blue steam engine and has a number 1 painted on his side. All of the vehicles in The Railway Series were based on prototypical engines; Thomas's basis is the LB&SCR E2 class.[2] Thomas first appeared in 1946 in the second book in the series, Thomas the Tank Engine, and was the focus of the four short stories contained within. Thomas's best friends are Percy and Toby, though he is also close friends with Edward and Duck. Unfortunately, he was heavily flanderized in the infamous 2021 reboot, Thomas & Friends: All Engines Go!

Why He Sucks Now

  1. For starters, his new design is horrible to the point where it actually makes Lion-O's design from ThunderCats Roar look decent by comparison.
  2. He has very odd looking expressions, which look extremely uncanny and cringeworthy.
  3. He is shown to be very egotistical, for example, in Rules of The Game, he makes the other engines do his obstacle course his way.
  4. His new voice is extremely annoying and high-pitched.
  5. He has recieved even worse flanderization than the one he suffered in Seasons 12-16 as he is a complete child who always misbehaves and acts like a complete moron to the point that he makes his Season 12-16 counterpart even better.
  6. For some reason, he’s allergic to hay, which never happened in the original series at all.
  7. He is also really bland as his personalty could easly be placed in other characters showing that his personalty is not really original.

The Only Redeeming Qualitiy

  1. While his design isn't as good as his original one, it still keeps many features that made the original Thomas recognizable (e.g. the blue paint, and red striped and the number "1"). Additionally, he still has his original 0-6-0 configuration (whereas engines like Gordon and Nia had their configurations changed).
    • Unlike most of the other engines in the show, Thomas still has the iconic whistle sound he has had since 1984. This is a nice touch since said whistle sound is instantly recognizable.
