A important message from the owner of this wiki / a role for co-owner officially open?!

    Matthew The Guy (talkcontribs)

What's up, y'all? It came to my understanding before I became inactive that I took on a little more than I bargained for. Gosh, running a wiki gets very stressful, especially a wiki for bad stuff.

From repeating the same thing again and again to mass deleting pages to lecturing people, it just became tedious and decreased my passion for making pages. And seeing as I turned 18 earlier this month, I feel like it's all too much for a 17-year-old to handle. Masson Thief did tell me that a sister wiki for the Great Characters Wiki would ironically not be a great idea, solely because of the incoming biased pages and article stubs that would come with it. And since most of the admins are more active on other wikis, that leaves me to deal with most of the admin stuff myself, like deleting pages, dealing with users' problems, stopping vandals etc.. It's all just too much for one person, especially for a teenager. I even considered pulling a "Noah's Ark" and just finding some way to delete the wiki, then start an entirely new Loathsome Characters Wiki and take it slow.

But I am the owner of 2 wikis (Great Characters FANDOM and Loathsome Characters, 3 if you count Great Characters Miraheze) and I'm an admin of 4 wikis (Best TV, Terrible TV, Greatest Movies, Awful Movies, 5 wikis if you count Wage 10 Planet). Every one of these jobs are stressful in some way, but being a simple admin is much easier. I'm not sure if I'm fit to run an entire wiki. And I'm tired of users who act like children and cause drama just because of some shows or movies or characters. I'm of course not referring to all of you, just some of the people I remember dealing with and dread to deal with once more.

I'm not saying I'm resigning as bureaucrat and all-around chief of this wiki, but I'm certainly not going to be as active as you might remember me to be. Now, all the other wikis do well without me more-or-less, but here I own a wiki with limited staff, so I'll be looking for an active, passionate and faithful user to take Chronicles' ex-role, the co-owner of this wiki, with me beside them.

The co-owner has to be the following:

    • Mature, responsible and relatively mentally stable. This applies to your manner of speech, how you treat your fellow user, how you write pages, how you react to opinions that differ to yours and how you deal with problems.
      • Having excellent grammar and spelling is a must. A decent vocabulary is a bonus.
    • Understanding and patient, which does bring us back to dealing with problems.
    • Have exceeding knowledge of how Miraheze, or even how wikis in general work. Knowing how scripting works is a bonus.
    • Have a view on the art of writing characters that almost reaches the level of a professional writer. Truly understand what it means to have a great character or a bad character. It's also essential to understand why something is popular, and why something is critically panned, and if it's for good or bad reasons.
    • Unbiased with not only characters, but any subject. This can apply to writing pages, discussing characters or even which pages you choose to delete.
    • Creative and fresh with ideas.
    • 100% faithful to the rules and guidelines, maybe even with new ideas for them?
      • If you have ideas about the rules on villains/mean characters or niche audience characters, I would rather you still took it up with me first.
    • Able to take a joke.
    • A nice, humble person.
    • Lacking of traits of procrastination.
    • Honest and hard-working.
    • Have a relative amount of free time in their life.
    • Not power-hungry.
    • Active.

I don't know if I'm asking for too much, since even I'm questioning if all of these fits me, but if you know someone or are someone who you think meets all of these requirements, let me know on this very thread, or through PM. You can also explain why you want to be co-owner and offer examples of you demonstrating these requirements on this thread, or also through PM if you want. There isn't a deadline, but I would prefer if you dropped your explanations soon if you really want the role. And for the kiddos who'd love nothing more to be an admin but heard me explain why it began tiring me out, as Uncle Ben said, "with great power comes great responsibility." I feel like this is a safer route than just giving the wiki up for adoption since it'll be a giant decision that I'll be involved in.

Thanks for reading! And I hope I'll get to put a new name on the introduction and staff sections.

    Hookuai (talkcontribs)

Gosh, you're back again. You should know Grust had retired for a short amount of days (by getting globalled) and also CGW got new admins.

    Matthew The Guy (talkcontribs)

Grust got globalled? You mean globally blocked?

    SpazJR61 (talkcontribs)

He contacted to a staff to lock his account and he's came back.

    Hookuai (talkcontribs)

I saw that on the notice board.

    Inkster (talkcontribs)

I became admin here and on the sister wiki while you were gone. I do a good job monitering both wikis, and I banned niche audience characters in general.

    Hookuai (talkcontribs)

He became admin because another admin (RoboticJeffy) was demoted because he wouldn't stop being racist to others

    Matthew The Guy (talkcontribs)

The wiki seems to be in decent shape with you monitoring it, I just hope you're good at fixing things.

    Inkster (talkcontribs)

Yeah, I'm good at fixing things.

    Matthew The Guy (talkcontribs)

Well I'll give it a while and if no-one else responds, you'll be the new co-owner.

    Hookuai (talkcontribs)

I wanted to tell you that a user named Jazmindagirl moves a lot of pages to its same name and she said that she's moving them "just so that their names don't get confused" but she doesn't say that when moving.

    SpaceProtagonist (talkcontribs)

Matthew, I know I used use be an unfair user who added various characters I personally disliked, but now I've evolved past that and I had learned my lesson on putting villains on here useless they're poorly written, or pathetic... or both. I even apologized for my past ways on a past topic, and I think I've made enough edits on both here and the good characters wiki. So I think I may be a good candidate? No pressure though.

    Hookuai (talkcontribs)

I think I might be a good candidate as I'm sometimes civil and chaotic good, I also thought the fact that I could improve some of the reasoning. I'm also a page-quality seeker as I detect pages whether it's badly written or not.

    Hookuai (talkcontribs)

Also, I know Geth got demoted on other wikis because these days, he's inactive.

    SpazJR61 (talkcontribs)

TyrantRex also demoted fron CGW and AGW due to his terrible behavior and he's inactive these days.

To be honest, he's getting preachy and annoying these days, not only I hate his behavior, Masson Thief, Grand Albert and even Grust hates his behavior.

    Hookuai (talkcontribs)

Ya forgot was, Spaz. Even Victor said that he takes things seriously such as the BBND a overreaction.

    Hookuai (talkcontribs)

There's a reason why TyrantRex got forbidden from IWAUW because he takes things seriously

    SpazJR61 (talkcontribs)

    IWAUW?

    Inkster (talkcontribs)

    Incredible Wikis and Users Wiki.

    Matthew The Guy (talkcontribs)

Uh Inkster, I would have preferred if you talked to me about the change you made to the niche audience rule before doing it yourself.

    SpazJR61 (talkcontribs)

Yeah, he started to take angry rants too seriously, as he questionably removed stuff from pages like the "Get Woke, Go Broke" page from AGW.

    WickyHoney (talkcontribs)

A conscientious person should be the co-owner, in my mind.

That’s all I will say for now.

    I removed TurkeyBoi's irrelevant shit

    WickyHoney (talkcontribs)

I personally now believe the new co-owner should be Inkster. He can seem rude sometimes, but ultimately he does what he believes to be the best solution and he is very forgiving. He is also funny and gets along with others well. Not my favorite user, but he’s an inspirational one.

    Matthew The Guy (talkcontribs)

Yeah, all the things you've mentioned are true, Wicky. I just wished he hadn't deleted the niche audience exceptions.

    Inkster (talkcontribs)

Anything niche audience-related is too peculiar to discuss in an unbiased manner.

    Matthew The Guy (talkcontribs)

Except for maybe the Arthur pages, as far as I can see most of the niche audience exception pages were not biased, but gave decent reasons as to why the character doesn't serve as a good character especially for the medium of a children's show.

    Inkster (talkcontribs)

Like I just said, niche audience characters are too peculiar to have decent reasons for the articles, and they are also too peculiar to be discussed in an unbiased manner by average viewers.

    Matthew The Guy (talkcontribs)

But the articles did have decent reasons discussed in an unbiased manner. For example, Twilight having a love interest who is more than a high school crush stereotype would make it clear to children that love shouldn't be based on appearance and should probably involve decent conversation. My Little Pony in general has probably the widest audience out of any preschool show and can generally be discussed by average views in a way that isn't opinionated. Caillou is notorious for not being a good protagonist and role model for impressionable kids. Horrid Henry lives in a world where almost every character is rotten and has it out for him, even his biased parents, past the point where they can just be ruled off as antagonists. There are multiple reasons for why these shows in particular should be brought to light.

    Trevor807 (talkcontribs)

Actually, exceptions can be allowed. Characters and shows are two completely separate worlds.
