Timothy "Timmy" Tiberius Turner is the main protagonist of the Nickelodeon series The Fairly OddParents, and is voiced by Tara Strong. He is the godchild of Cosmo and Wanda and the older godbrother of Poof.

While he's usually a likable, lovable, sympathetic, nice, and caring kid who has Cosmo and Wanda, sadly, he was flanderized from season 9 until the show's cancellation, but he redeemed himself in Nickelodeon Extreme Tennis and The Fairly OddParents: Fairly Odder.

Why He Was An Average Jerk That No One Really Understands

    1. Removing the cat from the bag, he went from "an average kid who no one understands" to "a spoiled brat who no one really stands", which completely goes against the show's premise for its first eight seasons.
    2. He has lost all the charm and likability he had in the first six seasons to the point where he doesn't deserve to have fairies anymore, though it varies whether he is in character or not in seasons 7 and 8, depending on episode and portrayal (ex. "Cosmo Rules" and "Timmy's Secret Wish!"). His tendency to not think things through has been flanderized into carelessness and irresponsibility, while his laziness involving school has evolved into being too cool to even care about his performance.
      • He's also far more mean-spirited and detestable compared to his portrayal in previous seasons.
    3. He also acts way more demeaning to Cosmo and Wanda, since now he constantly blackmails them into making wishes for him in a rude and mean-spirited way. Even when they try to warn him that some of the wishes he makes can backfire horribly, he always ignores them right away.
      • "Dumbbell Curve" is the worst offender since now his behavior towards the fairies has hit rock bottom much to the point where he would go far as to bully them.
    4. Several episodes showcasing his flanderization include:
      • In the season 9 premiere, "Fairly OddPet" where, after his parents declare that he is too irresponsible to own a pet, he wishes for cats to terrorize the Turner household, exposing them to his mother, who is allergic to cats, just so his parents can agree to get him a pet. Why couldn't he just wish for his parents to agree in getting him a pet instead?
        • Also in the same episode, he is shown to be feeding his pets human food, which killed them in the process, even though season 3's "That's Life!" shows that it was his dad constantly forgetting to feed his son's pets, which resulted in their deaths, while his son was away at summer camp. But given this is season 9 we’re talking about, screw continuity, right?
      • In the same episode as shown in WHWAAJTNORU#3, he wishes for everyone in Dimmsdale to be dumber than him despite Wanda's warnings that the wish could backfire heavily, only for him to brush it off and force his fairies to grant said wish, so that he can slack off on his homework rather than work hard to improve his homework, as shown from his infamous quote in the infobox above.
      • In "Force of Nature", he repeatedly throws his trash out his bedroom window and builds into a trail that leads straight to Dimmsdale Park. He later wishes that the animals that live in the park would clean up after themselves and the humans, just so he can continue to litter whenever he wants.
      • In "Desperate Without Housewives", he wishes for all women to disappear for a full day just so he does not have to put up with his mother telling him what to do. You thought he would have learned his lesson from season 3's "Love Struck!" by now?
      • In "A Perfect Nightmare", he wishes he and his family would look better by winning a contest against Dinkleburg and his family, which goes against Da Rules stating that you can not wish to win a contest.
      • In the season 10 premiere, "The Big Fairy Share Scare", he acts very immature, selfish, irresponsible, and annoying, such as when he hides inside of a high-tech robot version of himself just so he can goof off at school and at home, while having the said robot do all his schoolwork, homework, and house chores, throws temper tantrums when he notices everyone is in love with Chloe Carmichael, and wishes that there would be no more Fridays, endangering the entire Earth.
      • In "Birthday Battle", when he finds out that Chloe has the same birthday as him, they both fight over where their parties should be taking place, wrecking havoc among Dimmsdale.
      • In "The Fair Bears", he, alongside Wanda, spend the entire episode being inattentive and insensitive jerks who constantly treat Chloe, Cosmo, and the Fair Bears unfairly (all because they don't like the Fair Bears' show). Furthermore, they don't learn from their mistakes or get any comeuppance in the end making them Karma Houdinis. While brainwashing may not be the best way of changing their behavior, Timmy and Wanda do deserve to learn some manners and the Fair Bears do have the right to be mad at them.
      • In "Return of the L.O.S.E.R.S.", he got so lazy to the point he can't physically do anything like walking or even blinking without wishing to do so. Granted, this was most likely supposed to be a "joke" among the writers' part, but it comes off as more unbelievably idiotic than funny, even for a kids cartoon.
    5. He is even dumber than he was in earlier seasons. For example, "Man's Worst Friend", he can't tell the difference between Sparky and his counterpart, Anti-Sparky, until the plot conveniently called for it.
    6. He is extremely selfish and only cares about getting what he wants. While he had his selfish moments in earlier seasons, he was still a good kid nonetheless. However, in these seasons, his selfishness has become his defining trait and is much worse than before. His selfishness becomes even more apparent in season 10 upon the introduction of Chloe Carmichael, just to his status as her foil more obvious to viewers.
    7. He is very lazy and constantly uses his wishes to get out of doing things he doesn't like.
    8. He is very grouchy and constantly loses his temper for no justifiable reason.
    9. For all the worst things he has done, he barely gets punished for his actions making him a Karma Houdini.
    10. While Tara Strong still does a good job voicing him, his voice has become so high pitched whenever he yells or screams, it's like nails on a chalkboard.

    Redeeming Qualities

    1. He at least shares Cosmo and Wanda with Chloe, even though she does not need fairies.
    2. While he is a karma houdini he does get his comeuppance in some episode although rarely
    3. There are still many episodes where he is likable and even has his original personality.
    4. Tara Strong still does a good job voicing him, despite what WHWAAJTNORU#8 said.
    5. He was a much better character in the first eight seasons as well as the Oh Yeah! cartoons, and redeemed himself after the show ended. He also redeemed himself in both Nickelodeon Extreme Tennis and The Fairly OddParents: Fairly Odder.
    6. His character design is still nice, cute, and still iconic to look at.
    7. There are still a handful of moments where Timmy Turner is hilarious.
    8. Timmy Turner is still well-animated, thanks to the animators massively upgrading the animation to HD.
    9. At least he's more tolerable than Chloe Carmichael.
