    Rini (Sailor Moon, DiC/Cloverway Dub)

    Rini
It's not as much of a good idea to make Chibiusa/Rini more bratty to the point where she's actually unlikable.
    Gender: Female
Type: Obnoxious Bratty Arrogant Small Lady
    The Annoying Side of Chibiusa
    Age: 5-7
    Species: Human
Portrayed by: Tracy Hoyt (DiC dub)
    Stephanie Beard (CWi dub)
    Status: Alive
    Media of origin: Sailor Moon

Chibiusa is the civilian identity of Sailor Chibi Moon, and the princess of the 30th Century Earth. She is the future daughter of Usagi and Mamoru and the daughter of Neo Queen Serinity and King Endymoin.

While she's one of the most beloved characters in Sailor Moon (despite the mixed reception), unfortunately she was flanderized in the DiC and Cloverway dubs.

Why She Should Get Punished, In The Name Of The Moon

    1. To get the elephant out of the room, the DiC and Cloverway dubs severely flanderize her to become almost nothing like her original Japanese counterpart and manga counterpart unlike the Viz dub, which is more faithful to her Japanese counterpart, and her Sailor Moon Crystal counterpart, who's more faithful to her manga counterpart, as, instead of being shy, timid and hotheaded yet friendly, optimistic and independent, she is now a painfully annoying, irritating, obnoxious jerk and a bratty, bossy and arrogant prick who gets worked up over everything. In other words, she had all of her positive qualities and likability sucked out and had her negative qualities cranked and dialed up to eleven.
      • Recasting a timid Japan character like Chibiusa as an obnoxious, annoying, bossy and arrogant jerk along having with her unlikability outweigh her likability is an awful idea that was really bad from the start. Chibiusa may have been bratty and hotheaded in the Japanese and Viz dubs, but not to this extent, since she does care for her friends and fellow Sailor Guardians.
    2. She's an absolute petty jerk and stubborn killjoy to Serena/Usagi as she constantly keeps nagging at her when she's minding her own business. While Chibiusa may have constantly bickered with Usagi in the Japanese and Viz dubs, but she would never go as far as nagging at her since at least she does show that she cares for her very much and is often willing to help her out when she needs to while Usagi is willing to protect her in return.
    3. She is a crybaby from time to time, though not as much as Usagi/Serena. In the scene where Usagi/Serena spanks her (which the spankings were cut out), when Rini got scolded by her, she starts crying like a baby.
    4. Some of her dialogue can range from somewhat mediocre to downright disrespectful and irritating.
    5. Besides Usagi (Serena in the DiC and CWi dubs), she's also a major jerk to other characters too.
    6. Her DiC voice actor, which is provided by Tracy Hoyt, is extremely annoying, unpleasant, grating and irritating to listen to with the worst offenders being crying, screaming and nagging which made the character more unlikable. As a result, Tracy Hoyt wasted her talents on her.
    7. She mostly avoids showing empathy to Serena/Usagi and she'll act insensitive instead.
    8. She never gets punished for her actions, making her a Karma Houdini.
    9. She can also be considered to be too perfect which makes her somewhat of a Mary-Sue. In the Japanese and Viz dub, Chibiusa wasn't perfect but that's what made her not a Mary-Sue from the get-go.
    10. Because of all those reasons above, this portrayal of Rini could be the very reason why Chibiusa became a controversial character and people refuse to give her a chance. Which is such a shame because, aside from her DiC and Cloverway counterparts, Chibiusa herself is a pretty unique and relatable character that some people may not enjoy, thanks to those two portrayals of the said character.

    Redeeming Qualities

    1. She does have some moments of being nice and she was a better character in the manga, the Japanese version of the anime, the Viz Dub and Sailor Moon Crystal.
      • While still not likable, she does become a bit more tolerable in the CWi dub of Sailor Moon S and SuperS since she's not as bad as in Sailor Moon R.
    2. Her design remains unchanged and it's still cute.
    3. Stephanie Beard does a good job voicing her and is an improvement over Tracy Hoyt voicing her.
    4. There are some instances where she gets karma for her actions like when Serena/Usagi scolds her for being a brat.
    5. She still cares for Hotaru Tomoe (pronounced "Tomoh" in the CWi dub), so she hasn't lost that trait at least.
    6. Out of those three seasons, she's somehow at least tolerable in the Cloverway dubs of Sailor Moon S and SuperS, though that isn't saying much.
