    P.T. Flea
    "Flaming Death!"
    Gender: Male
    Type: Greedy Ringmaster
    Species: Flea
    Portrayed by: John Ratzenberger
    Status: Alive
Media of origin: A Bug's Life

    P.T. Flea is a minor antagonist in Pixar's 2nd full-length animated feature film A Bug's Life.

He was voiced by John Ratzenberger, who also voices Hamm in the Toy Story series.

    Bad Qualities

    1. He mistreats his employees, as he often denies them tending to their wounds, brushes off their concerns and complaints, and makes them do stunts that place him in harm's way.
    2. He does everything that he does for money and attention.
    3. During the first Flaming Death act, his decision to blindfold his employees almost resulted in him getting killed, and he arrogantly fired them afterward, only to later hunt them down to try to make them perform the Flaming Death act once again.
    4. While not intentional, there were two times when he ruined Flik's plans.
      • When he came to Ant Island in search of his employees, he revealed that they were not warriors, which is what led to Flik's banishment. Also, while he did at least have the decency to allow Flik to join his troupe after Flik's banishment that he inadvertently caused, he didn't show actual sympathy for the situation with Flik and the ants until later in the film. When Flik is initially banished and the circus bugs are ordered away from Ant Island while the ants lament their worries that they won't be able to gather enough food for the grasshoppers in time, P.T. simply remarks, "Tough crowd" before taking off.
      • When he saw his troupe pretending to be injured by Flik's fake bird, he, thinking that the bird was real, set it on fire, which ruined Flik's attempt to fool Hopper and his gang, and in doing so, he aided Hopper.
    5. As mentioned above, he did go up against what he thought was a real bird to save his troupe, but only because he didn't want to lose any of the characters that he could make a decent buck off of. To add insult to injury, this could have gotten Flik and the ant children killed if they hadn't escaped.
    6. While he is trying to make a living, he goes about it in a bad way due to all of the aforementioned reasons.
    7. He doesn't get any punishment for his actions, making him a Karma Houdini.

    Good Qualities

    1. He is implied to have mellowed out by the end of the film, as he allows the ants and circus bugs to try and launch Hopper away by using one of his circus canons while smiling warmly, and he cries tears of joy when he sees how happy the ants have become before taking off.
    2. John Ratzenberger does a good job voicing him.
    3. His design is good.
    4. Admittedly, it was impressive of him to go up against what he thought was a real bird and light it on fire, considering that even Hopper wouldn't have had the guts to do that, and had it been a real bird, it would probably have worked just as well, and it would be pretty impressive to see a flea take down (and possibly kill) a bird.
