Officer Clutch (although formerly unnamed in A Car's Life: Sparky's Big Adventure), is a police officer in the Car's Life series. He was only a minor character, up until his "main" reappearance in Car's Life 2. He is based on a 1967 Chevrolet Camaro, which is shared with Gracie (only in the first film).[1]
Why He Has a Rocket Launcher That Doesn't Explode
NOTE: Some of these problems were carried over from Gracie, another character who has the same model.
- Despite him being a police car, the design and traits don't even try to rehash anything from Sheriff in Cars, like the paint scheme, and basis. He is also absolutely NOTHING like him!
- Same going with Gracie, despite the same model as said on top above in the note, how could he have turn signals on the grill if his bumper (mouth) would chew them?
- Near the ending, during the Badlands scene, he has a rocket launcher, but when it hits Diesel (the main antagonist), despite it looking like a rocket, it LITERALLY does not explode at all! Or is it invisible? This makes it look like he didn't even defeat the villain.
- Idiot Moves: Why did the monstrous tow truck Igor just stand there when he arrived? He could've made a sneak attack on him as the latter gave Diesel a ticket, this makes him out to be quite useless.
- While not technically and really an animation error, this could be depending on the shade though. His grille color somehow ranges from almost blackish (actually very dark blue) to lighter blue.
The Only Redeeming Quality
- He turned out good and more likable in A Car's Life 2.
- His new model's design is now the same as Mayor Rivet, who is black-and-grey, and a recurring character.
- His new voice actor, Jim Woods, has gotten a more Irish accent and sounds like Mr. Mackey from South Park after he got dental surgery.
Trivia
- His name was not expected to be revealed until A Car's Life 2, who is named Officer Clutch, where in this film, it was either unknown, Sparky and/or Fender barely did not quite catch his name, or he hasn't got his own name himself then.
