It's all this fur. It makes me look... wooly.

Media of origin: Ice Age

Manfred "Manny" the Mammoth is one of the three main protagonists of the Ice Age franchise. Sadly, he got flanderized since Ice Age Continental Drift.

Why He Sucked

  1. Manny became nothing but a stereotypical over-caring father.
    • This problem especially came with his and Ellie's daughter, Peaches.
  2. In the fourth movie, he embarrassed Peaches in front of the other teens, and when she walks away upset, all he does is groan about it.
  3. He didn't even realize that Peaches landing on Ethan was a complete accident. All that he did was sneak up behind peaches and ground her without a second thought.
  4. He tried to compare Sid to Peaches at one point, which is absolutely wrong to do because that can effect a child's growth, especially at a teenagers age because that's the point when they are trying to establish their own identity.
  5. He became grouchy to the point that he became unlikable.
  6. Manny also was very short-tempered in the fourth and fifth film.
  7. Manny also provided way too many fart jokes in those films as well.
  8. He even can't even deal with his teenage daughter well, as mentioned above.
  9. Manny received even more flanderization in Collision Course and became even more idiotic.
  10. He even mocks Julian on the fifth film.
  11. He even thought of breaking up Julian and Peaches at one point!
  12. When Peaches was thinking of a way to escape the electricity in the fifth movie, he got mad a Julian for Peaches trying to defend herself.
  13. When Peaches is rightfully Angry, he says that he's only trying to protect her, which is absolutely wrong since when she was about to go to The Falls, she wasn't even alone, and none of the kids there are that bad in the movie, so he's just being Petty.
  14. He once hit Julian with a puck which made him sink into the water all because he was Jealous of him.
  15. He excluded Julian while he, Ellie and Peaches were talking.
  16. Manny's character makes no sense in the fifth movie, since he's already accepted his daughters Independence in the fourth movie. (Not to mention the entire movie could've been a shor and nothing could have changed.)

Redeeming Qualities

  1. Manny was a much more likable character in the first three movies.
  2. At the end of the day, Manny is still willing to do the right thing and protect his family.
    • Plus, Manny almost losing his family to the continental drift (and later the pirates) and having to fight in order to not lose them is a great concept, especially after he lost his previous wife and child, it could have been very interesting to see how far he is willing to go to not lose his new family as well, even though it was poorly executed.
  3. Ray Romano still does a great job voicing him.
  4. To be fair, it is understandable why he is so overprotective towards Peaches, as he just want to protect her from having the same fate as his previous son.
  5. As bad as The Ice Age Adventures of Buck Wild was, at least Manny recovered from his flanderization, reverting back to his first three movies self and Sean Kenin Elias-Reyes, his new voice actor, sounds pretty similar to Ray Romano. Sadly, the same can't be said about his sloth friend.
