    Loathsome Characters Wiki:Rules

    LOATHSOME CHARACTERS WIKI

Loathsome Characters Wiki might be a place for fun, but it has its own rules and guidelines to follow. Please read them carefully.

    General

    1. Please follow Miraheze's Terms of Service and Code of Conduct. Do not encourage others to break Miraheze's Terms of Service or Code of Conduct either.
    2. If users are uncivil, unclear, or go as far as trolling, do not engage. Be the better user and bring the matter to admins to resolve.
    3. Do not mini-mod. This means acting like an administrator or moderator even though you aren't one. If a person isn't behaving, tell the administrators who will resolve the issue, you don't need to type in all caps at them.
    4. Do not send any foe requests to other users, as that will likely cause drama. Sending foe requests to admins will result in an indefinite ban.
    5. Mainspace pages should be written decently and cleanly, with minimal swearing, caps and out-of-place wikitext.
    6. Pages should use categories that are appropriate. If there are multiple options, select the best one. Sandboxes and blogs should not have categories removed. If not, comment them out or fake them. If you're unsure, ask or leave it to someone else.
    7. All pages are required to be under 50,000 bytes. Any page with a number over that number of bytes should be shortened.
    8. Reasons for deleted comments are poor grammar, malicious propaganda, harassing others, insults, uncensored swearing, making no sense, flame wars, starting arguments, and grammar nazism.
    9. Death threats will NOT be tolerated on this wiki. Those who send death threats will be blocked without warning nor a second thought.
    10. Swearing is allowed on the Charactapedia Wikis as long as you do not use it offensively against other users, the admins, and any person that owns or is portrayed as a fictional character. Doing so will result in a temporary block.
    11. Do not rage in all-caps.
    12. Do not add a reception section on the characters' pages. This wiki is intended to be fun, and having reception sections ruins the purpose of the wiki.
    13. If you like any characters that have their own pages on this wiki, that is fine. Do not bash other users for liking or disliking them.
    14. If an admin has been inactive for at least three months, then he or she will have their admin rights revoked.

    Uploading images rules

    1. All images uploaded onto this wiki should directly relate to the scope of the wiki (which are images of characters, or images featuring the characters' parts in them). All other images not related to characters will be deleted on sight.
    2. Do not upload any NSFW images of characters (whether it be them naked, having gory injuries, etc). Such images will be deleted on sight if uploaded.
    3. When uploading images of characters, make sure that they are of high quality. Low quality-images are allowed, but only if they're not of minimal quality.
    4. Fan-art of characters should never be uploaded onto this wiki, no exceptions. Only upload official art (screenshots, concept art, promotional art, etc).

    Page-making rules

    1. DO NOT MAKE PAGES OF:
      • Any characters already on the Incredible Characters Wiki: This should be self-explanatory. Exceptions are if the page is addressing a particular bad incarnation. As the rule says, contact us if you feel a character should be switched.
      • Minor characters with minimal screen-time: Please do not add minor characters that appear for less than a couple of minutes. Exceptions can be made for those that have a bad reputation among fans. Otherwise, one-time characters are allowed if they are important to the episode or media they come from.
      • Episode-based pages for recurring characters: A recurring character being out-of-character, flanderized, or poorly written in a couple of episodes of a show does not warrant a page on this wiki.
      • Real-life people: This wiki is intended for fictional characters only. Exceptions are self-insert characters and fictional incarnations of real-life people.
      • OC/fan-made characters: They are not official characters, and they lack a personality. Such pages could also cause drama.
      • Parody/unofficial versions of characters: Especially those based on official characters and are intended to be unlikable. Such characters are meant to be jokes and they could clog the wiki if we allow them. This includes fan-made web series and video game mods.
      • Any Drawn Together characters: All of the characters are not meant to be taken seriously and are similar to parody characters.
      • Any GoAnimate/Vyond or Scratch characters: Their personalities are very inconsistent, which would make it hard to make a page on them in the first place. They also may count as OC/fan-made characters.
      • Any .exe characters (except Sonic.exe): They're just parodies of Sonic.exe with overall generic reasons.
      • Pages that were previously deleted: If pages that were deleted for being poorly written get recreated without notable improvement, it will result in a temporary block.
      • Hate pages of well-liked characters: Loathsome Characters Wiki is a wiki about incredibly flawed characters and is intended to be fun and somewhat professional. However, we will NOT allow hate pages of characters you personally hate, and if any hate pages are made, they will be deleted.
    2. Please do not publish pages that are either too short or are unfinished. They will either be deleted or moved to a sandbox where you may have the chance to complete it.

    Editing rules

    1. If a page has custom headers, it can be applied to the "Why He/She Sucks" and "Redeeming Qualities" sections, or the "Bad Qualities" and "Good Qualities" sections for average characters. However, customized headers should not look immature or insulting. If the characters are intended to be loathsome (aka hate sinks), the header should read "Why He/She Intentionally Sucks" or "Intentional Bad Qualities". For the best results, do not capitalize short prepositions, conjunctions, or articles in the custom headings, unless they are the first word of the title. For example, write "Why She's the Worst of Both Worlds” instead of "Why She's The Worst Of Both Worlds".
    2. Do not add the "Why He/She Sucks" and "Redeeming Qualities" headers on average characters.
    3. Do not add duplicate categories, as they could likely clog up the wiki.
    4. Vandalism is not tolerated in any shape or form. It nets a permanent ban if done repeatedly.
    5. Make sure your grammar is accurate when editing pages.
    6. Quotes such as "This spawned the X meme(s)", "he/she/they are poorly animated", "X is rolling in their grave", "Wasted the talents of...", and "depending on your view" are forbidden due to being unoriginal and overused. Any of the said quotes will be removed immediately.
    7. When writing an article, try not to be too unprofessional.
      • Do not go overboard with bold writing, capital letters, and red font, or it'll easily seem like a hate page.
      • Do not add any remarks in the pointers, such as "Wow seriously?", "We wish we were kidding!", or "What were they thinking?", as that could make the page look dramatic.
      • Do not make custom headers longer than a few words. Additionally, if you're adding your own words as part of the character infobox's quote, do not bash the character.
      • Don't add biased information to the pages. Keep the information as accurate as possible.
      • Make sure most of the information is correct and based on the source material. Biased contributions to bad pages give bad impressions.
    8. Please do not add in any indications that the characters you don't like deserve to die, as doing so will make it look like we're celebrating the deaths of characters. Even if a well-hated character does deserve it, just don't do it.
    9. If a pointer you're thinking of adding is based on your personal view, especially if you're alone on it, don't add it. If you think a certain edit based on your personal view should be added, explain it to someone among the staff or ask others.
    10. Please do not add pointers just to make comparisons to other characters from other media as bad or redeeming/good qualities, unless they are characters from the same TV channel, franchise, or someone who is very similar to the character. One good comparison is Peter Griffin to Homer Simpson who are similar characters from long-running animated sitcoms.
    11. If you see a short page or a page with messy writing, add a stub tag or cleanup tag to it so people can work on expanding it.
    12. If a page has a gallery, please add no more than 5 images. This is not an image-sharing site, this is a site about characters that are poorly written and/or unlikable.
    13. If a page has a videos section, the videos should be in English (especially since this is an English-speaking wiki). Foreign language videos are not allowed and will be removed if added there.
    14. When adding the Content Warning template to pages, please give a proper reason for this warning. If you add it without adding a reason, then it will be removed.
    15. Please do not overly detail pages, or overly exaggerate the pointers. This could likely ruin the pages!
    16. Any page should have at least 5 detailed reasons.
    17. Do not add links to New Qualitipedia (Telepedia) as we are trying to distance the character wikis from QP due to the latter's toxic history.

    Blogpost rules

    1. Blogs can be used to create pages of characters that otherwise go against page-making rules (eg. fake characters, "How NOT to make a page") as long as the content is not objectionable.
    2. Blogs should otherwise be used for civil discussions, ideas, questions, etc., and not to annoy other users.
    3. If you see a page that is marked for deletion, do not move the page to a blog to circumvent deletion. This is known as "blog-moving" and you can expect a warning or be blocked for doing this repeatedly.
    4. Do not add categories to blogs, as allowing it would flood and mess up the categories.

    User page rules

    1. Do not list users as enemies on your user page.
