    Lester the Unlikely
"I mean, I get it, he's supposed to be a nerd. Well this nerd makes me look like Charles Bronson, Steve Urkel could beat the s**t outta this guy!"
    - The Angry Video Game Nerd
    Gender: Male
    Type: Pathetic Coward
    Generic "Zero to Hero" Wimp
    Age: Possibly 13-19
    Species: Human
    Status: Alive
Media of origin: Lester the Unlikely

Lester is the titular protagonist of the 1994 platformer game, Lester the Unlikely, released for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System.

He is a male teenager, described in the opening cut-scene as typical, quite geeky, and often prone to sleeping, who has recently gotten a new issue of the Super Duper Hero Squad comic book. He was reading it while walking on a dock, until he fell asleep next to a cargo crate lying beside a cargo ship. After he and the cargo were loaded onto the ship by a crane and cruised off, the ship got hijacked by pirates who scuttled it. Lester luckily found a life jacket and swam toward the most adjacent island while the cargo ship sank. Lester must find his way home by exploring the island for someone or something that can help him survive.

Why He's Intentionally Unlikely to Rock

    1. His drowsy and careless presence in the intro cutscene was the very reason he got himself in trouble, which makes him look like a completely hopeless nitwit.
    2. He is a complete embarrassment of a platforming character. Especially since he is very pathetic, cowardly, whiny, and incredibly lame. Who even disobeys the controller/player when he runs away from certain enemies such as large, slow-moving turtles, making him look very feeble and somewhat stupid at the same time.
    3. At the beginning of the game, he walks at a tediously slow pace and slouches whenever he does so, and whenever he runs, he thrusts out his arms as if he were swimming, which makes him all the more awkward and embarrassing.
    4. He may also do something stupidly vexing throughout the levels, like cowering before approaching obstacles or running away from enemies encountered for the first time, while moving slowly making the monotony grow excessively.
    5. Unlike famous video game characters like Mario, Sonic, Mega Man, Kirby and many more, he takes fall damage (much like Bubsy), thus forcing the player to do a tedious process by gradually lowering themself down a cliff.
    6. His attacks, which are kicking and pelting enemies with throwing rocks, which is just plain pitiful and extremely basic for an attack.
    7. His design on the cover looks like a total joke and his character as a whole is not someone who you want to root for as a hero, like the Angry Video Games nerd has said in his review of the game: "Who wants to play as a weak, pathetic character like this? Wouldn't you rather be a tough guy? Isn't that the whole point of playing a game? To feel empowered, to be someone you're not?".
    8. His voice is annoying and will most likely get on your nerves, best examples of this are his wimpy moans/shivering, his grunts, and his bad "Tarzan" yell in the opening of the game. It even fits his initial, dorky personality perfectly.
    9. Even when he's written to slowly become a "badass", it leaves no impact on making Lester manly after the entire game exaggerates his cowardice and patheticness throughout. Making it harder to take him seriously when the ending shows him getting women, which feels downright illogical and laughable, such to the point it looks like something Lester dreamt that up himself instead of what actually happened.

    Redeeming Qualities

    1. While this is generic to point out, but as the game progresses, he builds up much more courage and bravery to save Tikka from an ape and fight the pirates as well as risk his life in order to save an innocent islander, and is even able to return home. In a typical long run, he represents the game's moral of facing your fears.
    2. His in-game design isn't all that bad.
