    Lavinia Herbert
    Gender: Female
Type: The Mean Girl Student at Miss Minchin's Seminary
    Age: 13-14
    Species: Human
    Portrayed by: Eiko Yamada
    Media of origin: Princess Sara

Lavinia Herbert is the (former) secondary antagonist from the 1985 Japanese anime series Princess Sara based on Frances Hodgson Burnett's 1905 novel. She is the daughter of a petroleum magnate in the United States, and she is a prideful and very manipulative girl. She was voiced by Eiko Yamada.

Why She Deserved to Be Slapped by Her Father

    1. She is a spoiled brat who becomes madly jealous when Sara begins to get more attention than her. Hell, after the death of the latter's father, Lavinia got MORE jealous.
    2. She is also very cruel, selfish, and arrogant and takes great delight in bullying and tormenting Sara, even when the latter loses everything.
    3. She and her friends bullied Sara in some episodes.
    4. In later episodes, she occupies Sara's former room with her family and doesn't want Sara to be a maid.
    5. She convinced Miss Minchin to fire Monsieur Dufarge because he caught her making Sara do her French homework, which seems like manipulative behavior.
    6. In "A Cold Night in the Stable", she tells Ermengarde that this is one of the motives for her constant cruelty to Sara.
    7. She's also one of those typical mean popular girl stereotypes.
    8. When Sara became rich again, Lavinia told her that when Sara becomes the Diamond Queen, the latter will become the wife of the President of the United States. This wouldn't be possible as Lavinia is just a teenager, and the president is an adult.
    9. Even when Sara was reduced to a servant, Lavinia continued to make her life a living hell.

    Redeeming Qualities

    1. She was slapped by her father in "The Mystery of the Resident of the Special Room"; that's when she deserved to bully Sara.
    2. She was very tolerable in the finale "Till We Meet Again", where she becomes friends with Sara.
    3. Her design is very cute, as usual for anime.
    4. Eiko Yamada did a great job voicing her.

    • Andrea Kwan doesn't remember Lavinia's voice actress in the Animax dub.
