    Janet and Marty (SpongeBob SquarePants)

    Janet and Marty
Sure, Patrick isn't the sharpest tool in the shed (heck, he probably used the tools to break the shed), but he isn't that dumb to not recognize his own parents.
    Gender: Male (Marty)
    Female (Janet)
    Type: The Real Idiots
    Age: Adult
    Species: Sea Stars
Portrayed by: Thomas F. Wilson (Marty)
    Susan Boyajian (Janet)
    Status: Alive
    Media of origin: SpongeBob SquarePants
    First appearance: I'm With Stupid

Janet and Marty are characters who appear in the SpongeBob SquarePants episode "I'm With Stupid". They appear as secondary antagonists in said episode.

They are Patrick's fake parents. Marty is married to Janet and comes to Patrick's house for Annual Starfish Day.

Why They Aren't Patrick's Real Parents

    1. They're unfairly cruel towards SpongeBob, as they and Patrick all think that he is extremely stupid and treat him as such.
      • While Patrick is not the brightest character around, he isn't so dumb that he would never realize SpongeBob's pretending as they agreed in the first place. It is also hypocritical that Patrick dislikes being treated like an idiot by his "parents" (he is dimwitted, however, but that isn't the case), only to treat SpongeBob the same way his parents did.
    2. For some reason, Janet and Marty are somehow aware of where Patrick lives and who he is, even though they never actually had a son.
    3. It's also insulting how it is revealed that they are not Patrick's parents, which makes the way they acted towards SpongeBob even worse.
    4. Even worse, they never get punished for their actions making them Karma Houdinis.
    5. They are nothing but filler characters serving nothing to the episode's story whatsoever.

    Redeeming Qualities

    1. Thomas F. Wilson and Susan Boyajian did good jobs voicing them.
    2. Their designs are good as usual, even though they look similar to Patrick.
    3. They at least know that Patrick isn't their son.
