Goro Sakurai (桜井 五郎 Sakurai Gorō) is Spade Ace (スペードエース Supēdo Ēsu) and the original leader and later second-in-command of J.A.K.Q. He is a Japanese pentathlon athlete and Olympic Gold Medalist.

Bad Qualities

  1. The biggest issue with him is he's a massive Gary Stu, which in most instances makes him extremely unlikeable, it also didn't help that his cybernetic enhancements worsened his Mary Sue-esque nature.
  2. He lacks the charisma that his predecessor had, not to mention his personality is as dull as a wall, which could be just frustrating at times.
  3. He had no character development as the show progressed,
    • Not to mention his demotion/appointment as the J.A.K.Q's new second-in-command, felt really out-of-place and had no form of build up whatsoever, that could have led to some character growth towards Goro.
    • And what's even worse he had the least amount of focus episodes, to his name, despite being the show's initial centerpiece, which is also disappointing.
  4. It is also seen that Goro had little to no chemistry with his team, with some cases showing that makes it seem like if he was just a character being acted out towards the audience.
  5. The majority of his fight scenes tend to be dull and bland, due to it's very mediocre choreography.
  6. He is arguably one of the blandest Red Rangers to exist within the franchise along with Riki Honoo/Red Turbo, Takeru/Red Mask and Goro Hoshino/OhRed.

Good Qualities

  1. Despite his major flaws, he is not the worst Red Rangers to exist within the Sentai franchise.
  2. During his tenure as J.A.K.Q's initial leader, he did provide some decent leadership within the team, as well as really showing that there are some instances where he gets along with his teammates.
