Reason: Includes graphic subjects and the 2010 version of Freddy is a child molester

    Freddy Krueger
Isn't it sad that such a popular horror character got so horribly flanderized in just a couple movies and even his reboot?
    Gender: Male
    Type: Flanderized Serial Killer
    Age: 49
    Species: Dream Demon
    Portrayed by: Jackie Earle Haley
    Status: Deceased/Undead
Media of origin: A Nightmare on Elm Street (2010)

Frederick Charles Krueger, otherwise known as Freddy Krueger, is a character and the main antagonist from the A Nightmare on Elm Street film series. He first appeared in Wes Craven's A Nightmare on Elm Street (1984) and then appeared in A Nightmare on Elm Street (2010) as a burnt serial killer who uses a gloved hand with razors to kill his victims in their dreams. He is portrayed by Jackie Earle Haley.

    Why He's a Nightmare

    In General

    1. All of these iterations are highly flanderized versions of the original Freddy Krueger, with all of these sharing some of the same bad qualities.
    2. Usually these versions of Freddy have very bad jokes.
    3. Most of these do a bad job at balancing being humorous and terrifying with some being too terrifying and one being too humorous.
    4. Most of the time versions like of Freddy like these are just the same as the original Freddy, just character derailed or flanderized.

A Nightmare On Elm Street: The Remake

    1. Freddy is very out of character, he isn't as funny as he was in the original films. They apparently tried to take him back to the more serious way he was shown in the early films but ended up going too far and making him totally humorless and dull.
    2. Freddy is now a pedophile who didn't murder the kids as a normal human, but he molested them! Not only is this not as “cool” as him killing the kids, but it's also disturbing, and Freddy constantly annoys the audience by acting overly sexual, particularly towards Nancy. Also, doesn't give the interesting potentiality of Krueger proven to have been an innocent man wrongly suspected of being a pedophilic and killed in vigilante attack by preschool kids' parents - which gives him more a reasonable revenge plot for injustice.
    3. Some of the CGI for him looked ridiculous.
    4. He sucked to the point Robert Englund held a sign saying “2010 REMAKE SUCKS!”
    5. He is no where near as scary as the original; Heck his design itself is kinda corny. While the original Freddy looked like a pizza, the design made him stand out to the crowd. In the remake he just looks like Supreme Leader Snoke from Star Wars: The Last Jedi.
    6. Freddy's one-liners are very hit or miss, totally unfunny.
    7. His scares rely on jumpscares.
    8. Missed potential to have Freddy be an innocent man wrongly suspected of child molestation, But no! we had to make Freddy more of a villain then he already is by making him a child molester.
    9. This Freddy is also not so different from the original Freddy and his writing is almost the same as the original making his character very uncreative and missed potential.
    10. Freddy Krueger is also very annoying and sounds nothing like the original Freddy, He is so annoying it makes you wanna go through the screen and beat him up.
    11. Freddy is also very edgy and a lot meaner then the original Freddy which is the reason why he is so unfunny.
    12. His backstory is also pretty much the same as the original Freddy.
    13. Speaking of the way he is portrayed, his design in the remake is pretty ugly and too creepy compared to the original.

A Nightmare On Elm Street: The Dream Child

    1. The effects for Freddy Krueger are disgusting (Including his baby form as he looks like a deformed burnt zombie and Eustice Bagge from Courage The Cowardly Dog and had a baby).
    2. He also looks very ugly in the movie.
    3. His one liners in the movie aren't very funny.
    4. Freddy is also overly goofy and stupid.
    5. Freddy's kill count was also very low.

    Freddy's Dead: The Final Nightmare

    1. Freddy is way too goofy and out-of-place in the film, even worse than in A Nightmare on Elm Street 5: The Dream Child (through not too much worse as the 2010 remake film). He says and does many cartoony and unfunny things, including:
    2. Like A Nightmare on Elm Street 2: Freddy's Revenge, Freddy gets all kinds of additional powers that make no sense, even worse than Freddy's Revenge, including:
      • He can now alter things in the real world when nobody nearby is asleep.
      • He can cause the kids he killed to be erased from history.
      • He can go inside Maggie's head even when she is partially awake (she also conveniently falls partially asleep in that scene).
      • He can now create an Elm Street in every town.
    3. Freddy is also annoying, weird and unfunny in the movie.

    Redeeming Qualities

A Nightmare On Elm Street: The Remake

    1. Jackie Earle Haley gives a good performance as Freddy, despite being a little edgier and flanderized than the original.
    2. Freddy Krueger is still a cool villain, despite his flanderization.
      • His powers are also somewhat cool (despite them being the same as the original Freddy).

A Nightmare On Elm Street: The Dream Child

    1. Robert Englund still does a great performance as Freddy Krueger.
    2. To be fair, Freddy was never a good guy so him doing this stuff, while being dumb and weird, Is somewhat in character.

    Freddy's Dead: The Final Nightmare

    1. While not much can be noted about the uprises of this specific version of Freddy, Some jokes depending on your view can be a little funny
    2. Robert Englund's performance of Freddy Krueger is still amazing.
