"Belle, be honest, would you rather play with me, or her?"

    Status: Alive
    Media of origin: Meta Runner

Evelyn is a character in season 2 of Meta Runner. She is a Meta Runner and a member of TAS Corp that works for the cooperate, big-bad Lucks who is forced to be Tari's partner, even though she shockingly doesn't like Tari in the slightest. Her personality is possibly based on The Rani from "The Mark of the Rani" and Time and the Rani. She is voiced by Elsie Lovelock.

Why She Intentionally Deserves to Be Arrested

    1. Rather than being an underhanded, intimidating, sadistic, and bossy villain like Lucks, she's just a Pure Evil example of the typical mean popular girl stereotype of character who is a womanchild that is very insensitive, overweening, heartless, spiteful, hurtful, vain, insolent, fussy, whiny, and self-centered, and yet, also somewhat inept at getting the better of Tari other than being an irritatingly envious person (unless she uses cheat codes or relies on good luck for her to succeed, making her look weak as well), who's only purpose is to make the viewer want to reach through the screen and strangle her.
    2. Speaking of personality, most of it consists of Evelyn bitching about not having much attention or 'respect' from others, and acting like a 'mean popular high school girl' stereotype just for the sake of it, which is only not entertaining but also very annoying.
    3. Her appearance is a parody of Zero-Two from Darling in the Franxx, but with none of the charm.
    4. Like most mean popular girl characters, she is pure filler, serving no purpose to the plot, except to be an excessive jerk and villain to the main character, for the sake of p***ing off the audience in the cheapest way possible.
    5. Where she was intentionally made to be someone you should hate (even more so than Lucks) and she was thought out to be a "love-to-hate" kind of character as revealed in the Making of Meta Runner video, this still doesn't excuse the fact her only purpose, up until the episode "Friendly Fire", is to be a complete bitch to Tari, for little to no reason except to make the audience blatantly hate and root for her defeat to be set alongside with Lucks. Especially there were several "love-to-hate" kinds of characters done a whole lot better than Evelyn due to having much more entertaining and redeemable aspects about their unlikable traits (ex. Constantine from Muppets Most Wanted, Evil the Cat from Earthworm Jim, mh:greatcharacters:Master Shake from Aqua Teen Hunger Force, Lots-o'-Huggin' Bear from the Toy Story franchise, mh:greatcharacters:The Grinch from the franchise on the same name, etc).
    6. Her role of a comedic villain is not funny or even humorous whatsoever.
    7. And this also can make Evelyn look unmannerly or extremely dumb at the same time because of these reasons below:
      1. Being mean-spirited and childish to an exaggerated degree, like when she met Tari and how she interacts with the employees at Tascorp by yelling at them for no good reason.
      2. Her villainous yet fallible motives were shown in the "META RUNNER Season 2 - EP 8: Soft Lock" episode, when she attempted to give Tari a setback during gameplay but not even thinking twice about how Tari's team was able to win. All because Evelyn herself trying to show off how she could win over Tari just shows how incompetent she is, and how she gave Lucks an utter backfire on her part during the battle overall.
      3. Her stupidity was better shown here when she behaves like a wrathful sore-loser who tussles Tari, in just about enough amount of time for her to be easily hoodwinked by Tari, Sofia, and Lamar to ensue (and was done satisfyingly).
      4. This just gets even dumber in "Nightmare Mode", where she was just freed after complaining about wanting to be freed from that room she got tricked into, despite the TASCORP agents freeing her, Evelyn angrily tells them to close the door (by yelling) just to talk to Lucks, which is essentially locking herself back in to be left there, showing how imbecilic she made herself look right there.
    8. Her backstory in "Friendly Fire" goes to show how she had little to no desirable effect with being a Meta Runner at Tascorp in the first place {While Belle was proven to be skilled and experienced, Lucks did make quite a foolishly amoral move on lethally replacing Lucinia over Evelyn, and this makes her existence seem rather pointless other than being an antagonistic bitch to the innocent Tari in her endeavor she was already having}.
    9. She is overly chatty and gossipy (whether it is hurtful and full of spite at Tari or something unrelated). There isn't a moment where has she ever shut up! Not to mention that she even shouts at times when yelling stupidly and unnecessarily at the minions in Tascorp, all for no good reason, or making insults like calling Tari a "blue-haired science experiment?!?"; This is also an example of how mean-spirited and spiteful she is.
    10. She is an obnoxious attention-whore, in her first appearance in the episode "Hard Reset", Evelyn expresses her frustration with the fact that Lucks has been giving much more attention to Tari than her like the obtusely immature individual that she is.
    11. Her hatred towards Tari for getting all the attention, without any understandable reason for her vendetta, is very clichéd, unsympathetic, and quite unrelatable.
      1. She even gave herself an autograph in episode 3 of season 2; just to show how vain and egotistical she is.
    12. She's pretty much a petty, immature, and psychopathic womanchild, as shown in "Friendly Fire" when she is willing to attack Tari's friends (in a game mind you) just to spite her then she becomes sadistic, heartless, and a complete monster though Sheridan is also a complete monster but he's much better than her.
    13. She killed many players that she got them sent back to the server and never cared about them dying there which is pure sadism.
    14. Another example of her sadism and how she's worse as a complete monster is that she even killed Theo and heartlessly told Tari about it just to break her.
    15. She even downright abuses the Cabin Boy and makes hypocrisy that no one should abuse him but her.
    16. She stupidly chose to yell at everyone instead of escaping, which she had the chance but wasted it.
    17. Even after she got arrested and faced the consequences, she still never learned her lesson and instead yelled for her father to have her bailed out of prison, which is unlikely to ever happen.

    Redeeming Qualities

    1. Her voice acting by Elsie Lovelock (when Evelyn isn't whining all the time) is decent.
    2. When Tari was wanting to know why she hates her and Evelyn's cliched backstory ensued to the point of showing how self-important she was in the process, Tari gave reasons on why she sucks being in TAS Corp when Evelyn was utterly hurtful and bitchy towards Tari and was expressing how tiresome she felt with her being there in the episode "Hack and Slash" {it was somewhat downplayed and justified while Evelyn was still hateful, underhanded and irredeemable in Tari's brief reasoning for wanting to be left alone from people like her and Lucks}
    3. Evelyn being loyal and forbearing to Belle allowed her to stealthily help Tari and her team while keeping Evelyn away from them in some instances was a better strategy to keep her out of providing filler.
    4. With that said, Tari (or her team) keeping Evelyn out of what's going on behind Tari's team side of the story like outfoxing Lucks can help further in the plot in a positive way for the most part without Evelyn being involved (e.g. The whole thing is better shown in "Friendly Fire" to "Soft Lock" when a slight part of Tari's team plan was interfered by Evelyn herself for being an antagonizing nuisance in the aforementioned Soft Lock episode, but was defeated by Tari from the video game counterpart because of Evelyn being inept and all because of her childish mannerisms).
      • When her villainous yet foolishly fallible motives were shown in the "Soft Lock" episode that showed how she made her failure when being a prickly dumbass with Tari, just to get hoodwinked by her, Sofia and Lamar help out Tari a lot more. Where Evelyn getting herself locked by mistake also allows her filler-based screen time to be shown a lot less.
    5. Luckily, she faced the consequences by getting arrested while she cried like a crybaby in the final episode of the series.
    6. Despite being a carbon copy of Zero-Two (as mentioned above in WSIDtBA#3), her design is admittedly attractive and gorgeous.
    7. While not funny, some viewers can find Evelyn Claythorne hilarious.

    Trivia

    • Despite her being incredibly unpleasant by characterization, in the "Making Our Animated Show" video, it was revealed that Evelyn was one of GLITCH Productions staff's favorite characters ironically enough, due to the fact they know she is obnoxious towards lots of fans and that was the point of her character, she was thought out to be a 'love-to-hate kind of character due to how "ridiculous" she'd naturally react with anything being said and the staff (Jarrad Rumble in particular) summarized how she has this dynamic, was full of personality from her womanchild demeanor and her presence.
