Chancellor Neighsay, or simply Neighsay, is a male unicorn pony from the 2010 animated children's television series My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic, who first appears as the antagonist of the season 8 premiere "School Daze - Part 1". He is the head of the Equestria Education Association, or EEA, a board of scholars who oversee all schools in Equestria.

    Why He Sucks

    1. He falsely accused Twilight of disregarding the guidebook even though she was following EXACTLY what the book told her.
    2. Speaking of Twilight, he even disregarded Princess Celestia supporting Twilight's decisions.
    3. He even demonstrated his slightly tyrannically point of view as he was enraged at Twilight and the others for standing up to him.
    4. He is also very prejudiced towards non-pony creatures, openly describing them as dangerous and even going as far as to disrespect them while in their presence. When the magic starts disappearing from Equestria, he assumes that Twilight's non-pony students are responsible.
    5. This prejudice can also make him a bad judge of character and borderline naive as he quickly gave credit to Flim and Flam's Friendship University just because of the pony-only environment of the university, in spite of the two being known con-artists. This also led him to free Sandbar when he claimed to agree with his views, not seeing anything suspicious on him suddenly and abruptly betraying his friends.
    6. His racism and bigotry nearly started an all-out world war, and he NEVER got fired nor any sort of comeuppance for that, thus making him a Karma Houdini.
    7. His justification for his actions is extremely bland and pathetic. It felt like it was trying to give him a backstory. Starlight Glimmer had a tighter backstory than that.
    8. His redemption felt completely unearned, unjustified and unrealistic as after Cozy Glow betrayed him, he was quickly forgiven in the season 8 finale "School Raze - Part 2", despite the fact that he already went too far with his racist ideals in "School Daze - Part 1". Redemption arcs don't work like that.
    9. He serves no other purpose on the show after his redemption.
    10. He feels like a one-dimensional racist villain character who only serves as a plot device.

    Redeeming Qualities

    1. He does apologize for his actions, despite it being completely unearned, as mentioned earlier in WHS#4.
    2. His voice is good, thanks to Maurice LaMarche voicing him.
    3. His design is decent and nice to look at.
    4. Despite his rough personality, he does happen to care for the quality of education and safety of pony students, justifying his actions and beliefs as being for the greater good of Equestria.
    5. When Cozy Glow takes over the School of Friendship and betrayed him, he became remorseful over his actions, recognizing his prejudice and how he treated others; after being rescued by the Young Six and foiling Cozy Glow's scheme, Neighsay shows a kinder and more tolerant attitude.
