"Butt-Monkey" is a term used to refer to a character that commonly gets abused by the rest of the cast for stupid reasons, or even for no reason at all. They also tend to suffer from bad luck or accidents.
Furthermore, not all butt-monkeys are unlucky characters because they are frequently just accident-prone and getting abused for no reason.
