20th Century Fox (also written as Twentieth Century Fox or often shorted to Fox) is an entertainment company that has been a Disney subsidiary since it was acquired by Disney as part of their acquisition of 21st Century Fox in 2019. It was formed on May 31, 1935 when Fox Film Corporation and 20th Century Pictures (which were founded in 1915 and 1933 perspectively) merged to form 20th Century Fox. It was one of the big six American film companies alongside Disney, Universal, Warner Bros., Paramount and Sony, until it was acquired by Disney in 2019. The company has created a lot of memorable characters and has a gigantic library of films, with some of its most well known and critically acclaimed franchises being Avatar, The Simpsons, X-Men, Fantastic Four, Kingsman, Alien, Ice Age, Rio, Planet of the Apes, its sequels, its remake, and reboot filmseries, Predator, The Sound of Music, Deadpool, The X-Files, Titanic, Anastasia, Titan A.E., FernGully, Home Alone, Die Hard, Diary of a Wimpy Kid, Alvin and the Chipmunks, Marley & Me, Dr. Dolittle, the non-musical comedy version starring Eddie Murphy (and its follow-up films), Jingle All the Way, Garfield (of which the franchise was acquired by Viacom [now Paramount Global] a few months after), Star Wars (the first six films before Disney bought the entire franchise), Tooth Fairy, Free Guy, Steven Spielberg's West Side Story, and Borat. However, these characters from Fox are not memorable. See Incredible Characters Wiki for good characters created by this company.
