The Cat is a character from the stop-motion short film Room on the Broom. He is voiced by Rob Brydon.
Why He Sucks
- He was flanderized from being a good-hearted, caring and welcoming cat in the book to a mean-spirited, jerky grump in the special.
- He is a pretty mean-spirited cat, as stated in WHSHMROTB#1, not seeming to like any of the animals on the broom.
- He doesn't seem to smile most of the time, showing that he is not only a jerk, but he is grumpy.
- He cannot handle having to accept other animals on the broom as he makes a negative mood about it, he even wants animals off the broom!
- He is shown to be a hypocrite, as seen in the scene where he laughs at the dog for giving him a bone despite the fact that he is shown to not be fond of him.
- At the scene where the bird and the dog try to comfort him, he just swings his paws at them, walks away, and angrily stares at them!
- He even tries to prevent his owner (the Witch) from getting animals on the broom!
- At the scene where the animals get out of the bog, he grabs the broom rudely and yells at the animals to go away.
Redeeming Qualities
- He is not really a jerk to his owner the Witch.
- He was likable at the beginning and end.
- To be fair, he was probably supposed to be in the wrong for his actions so he can get character development, as he redeems himself at the end, learns about friendship, and apologized to the animals for his bad attitude, even working together with them to save The Witch.
- His design is cute and decent.
- His book counterpart is a lot better than the moggy we got in the special.
- He has a few funny moments, such as literally finding a needle in a haystack.
