Buzz McCallister is a character from the 1990 Christmas comedy film Home Alone and its 1992 sequel Home Alone 2: Lost in New York, and a minor character in Home Sweet Home Alone. He is the oldest brother of Kevin McCallister.

He is portrayed by Devin Ratray.

Why He's Intentionally A Little Trout Sniffer

    1. Everything he does to Kevin in both films is completely mean-spirited, even by big brother standards.
    2. In the first film, the mess during the family dinner was his fault, as he deliberately stole Kevin's pizza and then taunts him. Plus, when him and Kevin start fighting, he was the one who knocked the milk onto the passports and tickets, causing them to get soaked. Because of this, he is also the reason why Kevin was forgotten about and left behind at home on a trip to Paris, as Kevin was blamed for the mess and was severely and unfairly punished for it by their mom by being forced to sleep in the cold attic of the house.
    3. When he finds out that his own 8-year-old brother was left behind and possibly in danger, he reacts with complete apathy.
    4. In the second film, he humiliated Kevin in front of everyone during the Christmas pageant. Even though he apologizes to him afterwards, he doesn't actually mean it, which is proven by how he calls him a "little trout sniffer".
    5. Other than coming home to see that Kevin messed up his room, he doesn't receive any punishment for his bad behavior, making him a Karma Houdini.
    6. Because of how he treats Kevin, he is a good example of a mean popular boy.
    7. In both films, there doesn't appear to be any solid reason for why he acts the way he does.

    Redeeming Qualities

    1. He does have some "Pet the Dog" moments, such as when he tells Kevin that it's pretty cool that he didn't burn the house down while he was left home alone at the end of the first film and when he allows him to be the first one to open up a present at the end of the second film.
    2. He does get a minor comeuppance in the first film when Kevin accidentally destroys his bedroom shelf.
    3. His line "Kevin, what did you do to my room?!" at the end of the first film is pretty funny.
    4. Devin Ratray does a good job playing him in both films and even reprises his role in the 6th film Home Sweet Home Alone.
