Bud "Squirrel" MacIntosh and Doyle "Stubs" Johnson are the main protagonists of the infamous 1996 film Bio-Dome. They are respectively portrayed by Pauly Shore and Stephen Baldwin.
Why They Should Remain Separated From Society Forever
- They are another failed attempt of those typical, clichéd characters who are extremely dimwitted, infantile, and cause trouble wherever they go. Making them cliche without an ounce of enjoyability.
- It doesn't help that they are supposed to be the main protagonist characters of the film.
- They are the ones who caused the conflict and most of the damage throughout the movie, and they don't have any comeuppance for their troublemaking antics.
- Both of their voices are highly annoying and will most likely get on your nerves very easily. In particular, Bud has an extremely annoying laugh.
- They both are so unlikable and immature, that they'd most likely make viewers root for the supposed villain of the movie (Dr. Faulkner) who had much more justified actions than these guys do.
- Their behavior is beyond childish and wherever they go, they literally act like toddlers at a playground.
- They can also be best described as immoral “Too Dumb to Live” type of characters.
- In addition to WTSRSFS#1, they are also poorly-written Idiot Houdinis. Unlike Beavis and Butt-head, their antics are never entertaining or hilarious to watch. Especially since they get off scot-free with most of their brainlessly stupid and nonsensical actions throughout the movie. In fact, take everything likable out of Beavis and Butt-head, and that's Bud and Doyle in a nutshell.
- They are terribly unfunny rip-offs of Lloyd and Harry from the Dumb and Dumber series (due to being a duo of idiots who go on crazy adventures), except it's done in an obnoxious manner and they have none of the likability, charm, or chemistry that Harry and Lloyd had.
- Stephen Baldwin and Pauly Shore do terrible performances as the titular duo.
- They are also extremely bad, horribly portrayed, and poorly written as protagonists.
- Overall, they are better off being villains than heroes.
- The dialogue and acting that comes out of their mouths are cringeworthy and sounds like it was written by an 8-year-old.
- There's a disturbing scene where they snuggle up against and practically molest two sleeping women, making them perverts and rapists.
- They are very flat characters with little-to-no personality and very idiotic, generic mannerisms.
- The two have literally learned nothing through their experience in the Bio-Dome and to make things worse, they decide to throw a big, wild party in the dome as if they own the place.
- As mentioned in WTSRSFS#7 They never got comeuppance for their actions, hence making them huge Karma Houdinis, as well as Idiot houdinis for their stupidity.
Redeeming Qualities
- The scene where they sing "Iron Man" to the tune of the Spider-Man theme leading Faulkner to correct them is kind of funny.
- Technically, they can be considered so bad it's good kinds of characters.
