Blaire Lily (February 22, 1997 - April 12, 2014?) is the main protagonist turned primary antagonist of the 2014 horror drama film Unfriended. All of the events of the film are shown through Blaire's Macintosh laptop. She and her friends are responsible for the suicide of Laura Barns, who was her childhood friend, with herself being the primary culprit.
She was portrayed by Shelley Hennig.
Intentional Unfriended Qualities
- She along with her friends were responsible for uploading the embarrassing video that made her best friend Laura kill herself and treating her like a punching bag. If she had only confessed to what she did, then no one would have died.
- She is a complete moron and huge coward, constantly turning to Mitch every time she gets scared because she's too much of a wet blanket to do anything herself. She also doesn't know how to use command controls, never turns off her screen-share during her private conversations with Mitch, uses Chatroulette in an attempt to save Jess instead of asking her Facebook friends for help or what a troll is.
- Hypocrisy: She told her friends not to tell mean stuff about Laura, yet she is the one who does so herself anyways.
- She mostly cannot go a single sentence without using foul language, apparently proving that she's trying to make herself look cool and edgy.
- Shelley Hennig gave the character a terrible performance.
- She did numerous kinds of betrayals to her boyfriend and other friends, such as cheating on Mitch with Adam twice, drunkenly crashing Jess' mother's car and pinning the blame on Jess, throwing them all under the bus, and many more.
- Speaking of which, she was also responsible for getting her boyfriend and her other friends killed.
- During the Never Have I Ever game, she randomly puts down a finger, despite Laura not asking her anything.
- She is just one of those clichéd mean girl characters.
- She is essentially nothing more than cyberbullying propaganda.
- She is said to be addicted to alcohol, even though she's 17 years old!
- At the end of the film when she was about to apologize to her "best friend", she smiled at the camera, meaning she only pretended to apologize after all that she did!
Intentional Friended Qualities
- Blaire does get a major comeuppance at the end when the vengeful spirit of Laura Barns revealed that the former was the one who posted the video that made her kill herself. This absolutely destroyed Blaire's "good girl" image, leading her Facebook peers to turn against her and her darkest secrets were revealed.
- Blaire herself still looks pretty and attractive in appearance, but her looks can still be deceiving.
- It's obvious that she was meant to be hated due to her actions in the movie.
