Ñoño (also known as Junior in the English dub of El Chavo Animado) is a recurring character in the Mexican series El Chavo del Ocho, played by Edgar Vivar. The character had a small role in the original 1974-1980 live-action series appearing most often as a supporting character but went on to play a larger role since 1979 replacing Quico along with La Popis and Godínez since Quico had left the series until 1992. And in the 2006 animated series as one the main protagonists replacing the role of La Chilindrina was removed.
While he was a good character in the original live-action series, he was badly flanderized in the animated series as he was rewritten to replace La Chilindrina.
Malas Cualidades (Bad Qualities)
- First off, Ñoño has been flanderized in the animated series because he was rewritten to replace La Chilindrina, as he went from a clever and good-hearted boy who is the butt-monkey of jokes about his weight, to a jerk and naughty boy who causes problems for fun.
- His English voice actor Yuri Lowenthal (who was more well known for voicing Sasuke Uchiha in Naruto and teenage Ben Tennyson in Ben 10 Alien Force all the way up to Omniverse), sounds nothing like either his Spanish or Brazilian Portuguese voice actors, as he does a bad job voicing Ñoño, to the point of sounding more like a teenager rather than a kid, similar to the voice that was given to Princess Amber from Sofia the First.
- He does bad stuff his original counterpart never does:
- For example, in one episode, he and Quico kept putting spices in Chavo's mouth, and the both of them did it almost the entire episode.
Buenas Cualidades (Good Qualites)
- There are still a handful of times where he is a likable character, does not cause trouble, and has his original personality.
- He was a much better character in the original live action series.
- Mario Castañeda did a fine job voicing him in the original Spanish version.
- On top of that, Gustavo Berriel (Brazilian Portuguese) and Helena Veloso (European Portuguese), did fine jobs voicing him too.
