Captain Marvel (Marvel Cinematic Universe)
Carol Danvers.jpg
It's marvelous how they managed to flanderize an already terrible character.
Gender: Female
Type: Mary Sue
Species: Half-Kree Half-Human
Status: Alive
Media of Origin: Marvel Cinematic Universe

Carol Danvers aka Captain Marvel is the protagonist of Captain Marvel and a minor character Avengers: Endgame.

Why She Sucks

  1. She is based on the worst incarnation of Captain Marvel.
  2. The reason we never got a Black Widow film was because Marvel Studios really wanted Captain Marvel to be their first female lead film.
  3. She was poorly portrayed, as Brie Larson has a single facial expression throughout both films, showing zero emotion and looking disinterested.
  4. She is arrogant and prone to anger.
    • She told the Avengers they failed to beat Thanos because "You didn't have me then".
  5. She's a Mary Sue who's character arc basically amounts to being validated. She also immediately received powers just because of a Tesseract-powered engine blast.
  6. Her sleeping with her commanding officer would not fly in any Earth military.
  7. She attacks random people and causes damages but faces no consequences.
  8. She just abandons Earth for over 23 years.
  9. Her portrayer, Brie Larson proclaims Carol to be one of MCU’s most powerful characters, but it doesn’t feel earned. It is also not comic book accurate as Hulk, Thor, Scarlet Witch, and Doctor Strange should all outmatch her.
  10. Her whole existence creates plot holes. Why didn't Nick Fury call her when setting up the Avengers or during the Age of Ultron? Her explanation of other planets needing her doesn't hold any water as we never actually see her protecting any other worlds either. Where was she when Ronan attacked Xandar?
  11. She was shoehorned into Avengers: Endgame. You could take her out of the movie and it wouldn't affect anything other than having the possibility of Tony Stark and Nebula being left for dead in space. The only contributing thing she did in the movie was to save Tony and Nebula from space. And even that could be taken out the film without effecting anything. In fact, she was so pointless in Avengers: Endgame that she is barely in it! If she was just going to be kept out for most of the movie, why bother having her?
    • In fact even having her in the the scene with Tony and Nebula was pointless as they could have just had them not start being left for dead in space, making her completely pointless.
  12. She dons her awful haircut from the comics.

Redeeming Qualities

  1. Her costume is really good.
  2. Her relationships with both Maria and Monica Rambeau are quite sweet.
  3. Her introduction when she goes down at the athmosphere Earth when she destroyed Thanos' mothership was awesome!

Wanted to add her on here before some SJW added her to Great Characters Wiki.

I don't even know if "SJWs" would even be bothered with places like these anyway tbh.

Oh trust me, those people want to spread their ideology everywhere. They even put the comic book version on Great Characters and added her film to Greatest Movies.

Marvel really needs to have Carol Denvers go back to her Ms. Marvel costume where she had that sexy costume, or hell, make it even sexier than it was before.

She's not respected by fans of the movies. She's actually despised by them. So the first reason given for deletion is not even accurate.

I apologise then, she’s pretty respected in my country, but If most people don’t like her then I won’t attack your opinion on that.

Infact Avengers Earths mightiest heroes Captain Marvel is my favourite incarnation of Captain Marvel and I was excited for Captain Marvel because I was disappointed that Wonder Woman didn't have a proper character arc in her first solo film that might have to do with Ares as a villain tho. Also Gamora's Character arc in Guardians of the galaxy 2 is great I thought Kevin Feige would do what DC don't but Captain Marvel's solo film is inferior to Wonder Woman thank God DC made two excellent female-led Superhero movies. BOP and WW1984.

For point #12, how else would Tony and Nebula have gotten to earth? They just would have been trapped on Titan with no way of getting home.

Like how many reboots did this character have before a stinky cheese that has a name called Brie came to be? Guess Marvel didn't see the memo that Captain Marvel isn't a popular character after all. I'm amazed that Marvel didn't let Brie win over Thanos as a final middle-finger to the fans.

While this page is great and understand the flaw of Captain Marvel there is some parts I dont agreed about?

  • Speaking of which, her origin film completely rips off that of Bumblebee. Both are alien warriors from a planet other than Earth who crash-land there in the past (Bumblebee in 1987 and Captain Marvel in 1995) with no memories of who they are and befriend a human while enemies from the same planet as her also land on Earth with the intention of hunting her down.

She lost her memory before crushed landed on Earth also the enemies in the film are the good guys all along. Plus if this was ripping off Bumblebee she would had lost her voice.

  • Missed Opportunity: Carol never donned the Ms. Marvel alias and didn't even wear her iconic black suit before she became Captain Marvel. It could be argued that the Ms. Marvel look was oversexualized and wouldn't be acceptable in a modern superhero film, especially one by Disney-Marvel.

Thats not the flaw of the character.

  • Thor is torn down just to prop her up.

Thor is torn down not because of her but him failing to beat Thanos you will be bumped down if you failed to stop a villian.

  • She flirted with an underage Spider-Man.
She is just saying hello in endgame if she is flirted she would have be more sexual to him.
